July 20, 2015 – Since Food Bank For New York City launched our Senior Center in Harlem two and a half years ago, it has grown by leaps and bounds, now serving over 2,500 registered seniors.

We’re particularly proud of our Senior Breakfast offering:  when seniors come to shop in the Pantry during Senior Breakfast hours, they have a chance to eat first.  The program now serves over 1,200 meals a month, including frittatas and egg-white omelets.

Since Senior Breakfast has become so popular, our Volunteer Engagement Team has created an extra shift during these hours – 8:30-11 am Monday-Friday.  Our volunteers serve breakfast and supper, assist with food preparation, and help make it possible for us to distribute take-home meals for times when the Pantry is not open.

Food Bank is proud to provide seniors good meals, fitness activities, and a place to turn to for help.  We’re so grateful to the volunteers who allow us to maintain and expand these services!
