On Wednesday, March 13, Food Bank For New York City hosted its second Eat For Good dinner partnering with Los Angeles-based Japanese fusion restaurant Majordōmo and local Momofuku Noodle Bar in NYC. This inaugural event by Dave Chang’s restaurants featured a memorable 5-course meal paired with California wines, paying homage to Majordōmo’s origins.
The dinner began with inventive dips—hummus with sardine and carrot chili oil, and butter with rich buckwheat honey—served with warm, toasty bread. The “salad” course showcased apple kimchi with bacon and cucumber salad with smoked salmon roe, scallions, and Marcona almonds. Following this, guests enjoyed a prime rib bao bun with horseradish crema and standout fried chicken wings with hot honey, herbs, and peppers.
The small plate portion featured Majordōmo’s crispy rice topped with chicken, pea shoots, and shiitake mushrooms, alongside a playful chicken noodle soup rendition with tender chicken breast, decadent broth, and buttery noodles. The dessert, a pot de crème with dulce de leche, added a flavorful conclusion.
The atmosphere was lively, with conversations and laughter filling the East Village venue. Attendees left with full bellies and hearts, knowing their participation supported a worthy cause. Thank you to all who participated, and to our Eat For Good partners at Bank of America, San Pellegrino, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Resy for making this event series possible.
