October 17-20, 2013 – Join us for the 2013 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival!
September 20, 2013 – The minute you meet 7-year-old Makenna, you know that she’s a little girl on a mission. At an age when other children are focused on play, she’s focused on service.
September 9, 2013 – All of my volunteer experiences over the years have involved children–by choice. I’ve worked with various social service groups to tutor elementary school kids from low-income families who were considered “at risk.”
August 30, 2013 – I am the pastor of a rural congregation in Delphos, Ohio, and this summer our VBS (Vacation Bible School) theme was “Big Apple Adventure.” We invited the children to bring an offering each day during our four-day program.
July 1, 2013 – I knew that living on $1.50 per meal a day would be difficult, but by day three of the Food Stamp Challenge, I was exhausted. It wasn’t just because of the small portions of food I’d been eating to avoid hitting day six with nothing left but a half empty jar of peanut butter; making $31.50 in groceries stretch a whole week was tougher than I imagined.
June 19, 2013 – When I read in a New York Times article that the Bronx, my hometown, was rated as the unhealthiest county in New York State, my heart sank.
Join us May 1st, 2013, from 10am -7pm at Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall for the World’s Largest Bake Sale with Sandra Lee to benefit Food Bank For New York City and No Kid Hungry.
April 25, 2013 – I’ve been lucky to volunteer in Food Bank’s Benefits Access department, where I get to serve hundreds of low-income New Yorkers each month.
March 14, 2013 – One of the things I appreciate most about being a nutrition intern at Food Bank For New York City is knowing that I have a hand in improving the health of people in the Harlem community.
February 16, 2013 – Last month Food Bank For New York City, along with 39 representatives from our member charities, traveled to Albany for the 42nd Annual Conference of the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators.
