How You Can Help
Approximately 1.4 million New Yorkers — the majority of whom are women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities — rely on soup kitchens and food pantries. With the goal of ending food poverty throughout the five boroughs, the Food Bank For New York City provides a series of income support, nutrition and health education programs in addition to food distribution efforts that last year provided more than 74 million pounds of food to more than 1,000 food assistance programs every year.
Without the help of our partners and supporters like you, the work of the Food Bank would not be possible. Read on to learn how you can make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers in need.

The Food Bank solicits, warehouses and distributes large-scale food donations to more than 1,000 food assistance programs throughout the five boroughs. The Food Bank can also help you find a drop site if you are looking to make an individual donation. To get started read our food donation FAQs.
The Food Bank's Virtual Food Drive tool
creates personalized, interactive web pages for our supporters where
they can invite coworkers, family and friends to help reach their
fundraising goal — all while helping provide more meals than a
traditional canned food drive.
Volunteers are essential at all levels of the Food Bank's operations from serving hot meals to New Yorkers in need at our Community Kitchen & Food Pantry to staffing at public awareness and fundraising events or repacking food at our Bronx warehouse.
You can make a lasting difference in the lives of New Yorkers in need by supporting legislative change, raising hunger awareness and promoting available solutions.
