NEW YORK (Nov. 17, 2024)Comedian Tracy Morgan helped kick off the holiday season by joining Food Bank For NYC and Stop & Shop to distribute 400 turkeys to families in Bed-Stuy's Tompkins Houses, where he grew up.

"I'm glad the Lord has put me in a position to help and give back to my community because people need it. I almost lost my life a couple of years back and I'm glad to be here doing this," said Morgan.

Stop & Shop is donating more than 25,000 turkeys and $60,000 in gift cards to food banks across New York state, supporting the 1.3 million New Yorkers facing food insecurity.
