On June 1st, Food Bank For New York City, Morgan Stanley and Feeding America partnered on a massive repack event to launch a Summer Hunger Awareness Campaign through a 24-hour, global volunteer day to fight childhood hunger during the summer months. The campaign called “Feeding Kids Around the Clock” was a one-day-only Morgan Stanley initiative that took place in nearly all time zones from Australia to Hawaii, with the New York kickoff in the heart of Times Square.

From 8:00am-1:00pm, over 300 Morgan Stanley employees volunteered to pack enough pantry boxes to provide 18,000 meals to families in need, with some employees staying for a second or even third shift once the packing had begun!

The event kicked off Morgan Stanley’s 12th annual Global Volunteer Month, entitled “Healthy Communities.” Morgan Stanley, a longstanding supporter of Food Bank For New York City, has donated hundreds of volunteer hours to Food Bank.  Their financial support for Food Bank’s Campus Pantry program has allowed Food Bank to deliver more nutritious meals to children and families in New York City.   In NYC, 1 in 5 children relies on a soup kitchen or food pantry to eat.  The problem is compounded during the summer months when more than one million NYC school-aged children lose access to the National School Lunch and Breakfast program.

Food Bank For New York City thanks Morgan Stanley and Feeding America for their continued commitment to help end hunger in New York City!
