Biography

Sultana Ocasio is the Director of the Community Kitchen at Food Bank For New York City.

For the past seven years, she has overseen all programmatic activities offered at the Kitchen, including pantry and hot meal services and the Older Adult Center.

Sultana began her nonprofit career through an internship at the United Way and previously served as Executive Director of the Muslim Women’s Institute for Research and Development, where she focused on hunger relief, wrap-around services, and healthcare in the Bronx.

She sits on the Board of RAHMA and serves as a Faith Ambassador for the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.

Outside of work, Sultana loves to “lime,” spend time with family and friends, discover new bakeries, and sing—even if she admits she can’t carry a tune.
