On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, New York Jets players visited Food Bank For New York City’s Community Kitchen and Food Pantry in West Harlem to give back this holiday season. The Jets served smiles and hot lunch including beef barbeque, mac and cheese, and collard greens to 141 older adults who rely on Food Bank’s daily meal service.

Reflecting on his experience, wide receiver Garrett Wilson said, “If anyone was exposed to this and did it even one time, they’d want to do more. The people here are awesome.”

He added, “My favorite moment from volunteering today was serving food and having conversations with community members. That’s everything to me. Sometimes you can lose sight of how important human interaction is.”

New York Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas echoed these sentiments, sharing, “It’s awesome to see when you serve a meal with a smile and say, ‘Have a nice day!’ that you see that smile returned. Brightening someone’s day and encouraging them to keep going and keep fighting — that’s what it’s all about. Whatever we can do to spread joy, it’s all worth it.”
