For many New Yorkers, the holidays are about bringing families together around a table. But for our 1.4 million neighbors facing food insecurity, that table is getting harder to fill. From teachers and parents to federal workers and hourly employees, families across the city are making impossible choices between rent and food.

Give today to help provide 50 million meals across New York City—because every family deserves to celebrate the holidays around a full table.

Transcript

Katie Lee Biegel, Celebrity Chef:
All of our celebrations in life, all of our holidays, always revolve around a meal.

Miguel, Mobile Pantry Volunteer:
This is what makes a holiday special—celebrating with family, gathering together around the table, cooking their best dish, their best meal, their cultural dishes.

Katie Lee Biegel, Celebrity Chef:
So imagine the sadness that’s created for a family who does not get to participate in that.

Zac Hall, SVP, Programs:
You know, even having a job doesn’t guarantee you have all the resources you need to make ends meet.

Monique, Teacher:
You could be a professional and still, like, live check to check.

Fasina, Tile Setter:
People ask me, “You go to work—why do you go to the food pantry?” And I’m like, everybody that lives in New York City sometimes has to borrow from Peter to pay Paul. Like, it just happens, you know?

Adriana, Federal Worker:
A paycheck only goes but so far. Rent is high. Food is high. I mean, I have two growing boys.

What comes first—the rent or the food?

Gregory, Maintenance Worker:
And it’s hard to, you know, figure out which one is the right decision.

Brittney, Paraeducator:
The cost of living is so high right now that it feels like it’s going to be impossible for me to be able to have food for us.

Maxxine Dupri, WWE Superstar:
This is so much bigger than all of us. This is about humans in our community who need our help. And to get to be here and give a little bit of that help is the best thing.

Charlamagne tha God, Radio Host:
We gotta be the change that we wanna see. We gotta step up and empower our communities. We gotta step up and donate our money, donate our time to organizations like the Food Bank For New York City, because we truly are all we got in this current moment.

Jameis Winston, New York Giants Quarterback:
I truly believe to whom much is given, much is required. So when you are blessed with certain resources and opportunities, be willing to extend a hand and open up those resources and opportunities to other people.

Hannah Berner, Comedian:
This is what New York City is about—the holidays coming up and everyone having the best time possible with food on their table.

Tyler Johnson:
It’s what it’s all about. All about giving back whenever you have the opportunity to.

Dina, Working Mom:
We are grateful that you guys are here giving us food, because we do need it. It’s all the help we can get. We do need it. You guys are exceptional. Let me tell you—this is awesome. I’m gonna take it.

Marco, Working Dad:
I feel like crying.

Every good dollar that you put into this Food Bank of New York City, it comes into the street, it comes into the line, it comes to the people. Like, we see it.

Leslie Gordon, CEO:
We’re made to do this work, but we need all of you to stand shoulder to shoulder with us to make sure that we’re able to support our neighbors.

Candice Kuami, Author & Chef:
So I always say, go to foodbanknyc.org and give back.
