Special Update On Sandy From Margarette Purvis
We are happy to announce that the online ordering system has been restored. Place your orders by clicking here.
To every program director, volunteer and supporter let me first state how much all of us at Food Bank For New York City are thinking of you and wishing you and yours the very best at this critical time in the life of our city. I know that many of you have seen your operations turned upside down as you ponder ways to connect with staff, volunteers and supporters. While the city focuses on a storm, I know that YOU are dealing with the realities of the storm. From the lack of SNAP benefits and hourly wages to the worries of the approaching first of the month, you, more than anyone else understand the critical needs facing families in every borough and neighborhood in our city. Even the most minimal expenses related to disaster preparedness, likely fell outside of our client's ability to afford...making them even more vulnerable.
Food Bank For New York City's warehouse has been open every day this week and we've made deliveries every day that the city's dealt with the aftermath of this storm. Since Sunday, our Member Services team, lead by Dominique Jones has been attempting to contact every charity and faith based organization we serve. If you have not been in your facility and have not spoken to us, PLEASE CONTACT THE FOOD BANK at 718-991-4708. We are activating volunteers, information on emergency benefits, new food donations and deliveries. To ensure service to your community, we MUST HEAR FROM YOU. We are using our website, the media and our donors to tell your story and ensure clear messaging of your needs. We look forward to extending our relationship with you in response to this latest disaster.
We are proud to be partners with you in the fight to end hunger. We look forward to immediately connecting with you to ensure the most responsive and efficient fight possible.
Peace and blessings to you and yours,
President and CEO
