Moses, Community Kitchen and Food Pantry

"I live around the block on 110th street in Harlem.  I'm 86 and I was born in 1924. I moved up here from South Carolina with my wife in 1941. We worked our whole lives and happily retired when we were ready and able - that was 20 years ago."

"My wife passed away several years ago. I'm a widower and take care of myself.  I've got to pay my rent, my phone bill, and the pharmacy for medicine for my eyes.  I've been able to get by on a combination of Social Security and my pension from where I used to work."

"I used to go food shopping and cook at home, but I'm losing my eyesight.  Living alone at 86 and being partially blind leaves a man completely helpless in the kitchen. I can't see well enough to cook. I had to come here. I had to get something to eat."

"Now this is my only freshly cooked meal of the day. My favorite part about coming here to the kitchen is that they treat me alright; I like the food too!"
