Food Bank For New York City has temporarily closed our Community Kitchen and Food Pantry in Harlem after a staff member working out of this location has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee did not have direct contact with food that was distributed from this location. We are immediately taking steps and following all guidance from the CDC and relevant local health authorities while we re-double our cleaning and sanitation efforts of the entire facility.

The site will remain closed until Monday, April 13.

Guests of our Community Kitchen and Food Pantry will be directed to nearby pantries and soup kitchens, as we work to put in place alternative services for meal and pantry distribution during the temporary closure. It is vital that Food Bank supports our local partner agencies in the neighborhood so that we can continue to meet the needs of the families we serve.

We understand that this may create inconveniences for the New Yorkers we serve daily, but it is necessary in a communal environment such as ours and is in the interest of everyone’s safety. We encourage our staff, volunteers and clients to follow the health recommendations from federal, state, and local officials. Food Bank continues to monitor the evolving situation, and will provide updates regularly.
