Food Bank releases Attitudes Towards Hunger in New York City: How New Yorkers View Hunger, a study to assess New Yorkers' attitudes toward hunger with the primary goal of determining if the need for emergency food assistance had increased in recent years and, if so, whether people knew how to locate a nearby emergency food program.
New Food Sourcing Division is established to facilitate food procurement and outreach.
Food Bank increases its focus on local food donors and cements a new partnership with the Fulton Fish Market.
In fiscal year 2003/04, the Food Bank's poundage distributed reaches 67 million pounds — a 10 percent increase over the past fiscal year.

The Anti-Hunger Policy Platform for New York State and City 2007–2012, developed during a series of 2006 meetings held by a collective of city and state anti-hunger organizations, is released.
FoodChange, Inc. merges with Food Bank For New York City in July 2007. The transaction enables us to work more effectively to meet the needs of the approximately 1.3 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put food on the table, and to advance our mutual mission to end hunger.
Food Bank releases NYC Hunger Safety Net 2007 — part of the Hunger Safety Net series and the first scientific study that provides trend analysis on hunger throughout the five boroughs — and develops a new Food Poverty Maps interactive mapping and spatial analysis tool to view selected findings from the study overlaid on a New York City map.
Food Bank launches the new Open Market BackPack Program, a part of Feeding America's national BackPack Program. The Open Market BackPack Program was developed at the Food Bank to provide children from low-income families with bags to fill with fresh produce and healthy food items selected themselves at choice-style pantries.
Feeding America presents the Food Bank with our third, consecutive Mighty Apple Award for most fresh produce collected and distributed.
