Food and Resources for Those in Need, Tax Advantages for You
December 10, 2013
Now may be the ideal time to consider a gift of stock to the Food Bank For New York City.
Did you know that by donating stock that you've owned for more than a year and one month and that has gone up in value, you can reap great tax advantages? If you directly transfer appreciated stock to the Food Bank, instead of selling it yourself first, you don't have to pay any capital gains tax. Plus, you may be entitled to a significant tax deduction. Please contact your tax advisor to determine your personal tax benefits.
Consider exploring this savvy giving opportunity. It just might be a win-win situation for you and the New Yorkers you would help — families, children, seniors, persons with disabilities, and the homeless.
If you are interested in taking advantage of this smart way to give, please contact Emily Mead, Director of Individual and Major Gifts at 212-566-7855, ext. 2256 or firstname.lastname@example.org
