Instructions for Coordinated Farm Bill Fax Days

On August 28th, 29th and 30th, emergency food programs across New York City will be participating in a coordinated fax campaign to protect emergency food (TEFAP) and food stamps (SNAP) in the Farm Bill! They will be informing their Representatives in Congress about the importance of safeguarding these critical programs. A coordinated fax day will have great impact in engaging our Representatives. To participate in this campaign, please follow these steps to ensure a successful fax day:

Step 1:
Call Roxanne Henry, Community Outreach Manager, at the Food Bank, 212-566-7855 x8364 or email rhenry@foodbanknyc.org to let her know that you would like to participate.

Step 2:
Download fax forms (see table below) and print out the form for your Congressional Representative. If you do not know who represents your program site, please visit this website to find out.

Step 3:
Make copies of the fax form and distribute them to clients, staff, volunteers and community members. Make sure each person writes in their name, street address and ZIP code.

Step 4:
Collect all completed forms for your assigned fax day. Below are the dates and downloadable forms that correspond to each Congressional district:

Date Congressional District and Representative
Tuesday, August 28th
Wednesday, August 29th
Thursday, August 30th

Step 5:
Fax all completed forms three times on your designated day: first to your Congressional Representative, then to Senators Gillibrand and Schumer – the fax numbers are provided on each form. Please make sure to fax the completed forms on the day designated for your Congressional district. For example, if your agency is on Staten Island, your representative is Michael Grimm. You will be faxing all the forms you collected to him, as well as Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, on Tuesday, August 28th.

Please complete a cover page for each office indicating how many pages you are sending. If a fax line is busy, please resend it until the fax goes through.

Step 6:
Email or Call Roxanne Henry at rhenry@foodbanknyc.org 212-566-7855 x8364 with the date you sent the fax forms, the representatives that you faxed, and the number of fax forms sent.

Thank you for working to protect funding for the Farm Bill!
