Bank of America Hosts Holiday "Food Bank 2 Go"
November 23, 2016 – Over 300 Bank of America employees volunteered to pack enough Thanksgiving Meal Boxes to feed over 31,000 New Yorkers in need this holiday season as part of a “FoodBank2Go” special event.
Over the course of the day, volunteers took hour-long shifts to help bag produce, tape boxes, write Thanksgiving notes, and ultimately pack 3,500 boxes total (pictured below). Some, once done with their first shift, even signed up for a second or third shift once the packing had begun.
Many of the bank’s employees told us they loved the opportunity to give back to the community. And by bringing the packing project to One Bryant Park, Food Bank made it easy to have a big impact this holiday season.
The Meal Boxes included Thanksgiving-themed pantry items, fresh produce, handwritten notes, and turkey gift certificates. In total, 3,500 boxes were distributed to New Yorkers in need at Food Bank member agencies in some of the
