The Food Bank works toward long-term solutions to food poverty in New York City through a range of policy and research initiatives. Recognizing that to fight a problem as complex as hunger and poverty throughout the five boroughs you first have to understand that problem, the Food Bank regularly conducts research that allows us to impact public policy at the city, state and federal levels.
The Food Bank works on an ongoing basis with government bodies at the city, state and federal levels to fight food poverty through legislation, policy and improvements to government programs.
The Food Bank regularly conducts research and evaluation projects that help us to determine and address the need for emergency food, government nutrition assistance, income support and nutrition-education programs throughout the five boroughs.
Giving testimony to legislative bodies provides the Food Bank with the opportunity to interact with and present information from our research to key decision makers with the hope of achieving positive legislative and procedural goals.
