Community Kitchen
Located in Harlem at 252 W 116 Street, our Community Kitchen has offered New Yorkers in need direct food service since 1984. Our full-service soup kitchen and food pantry help provide close to 365,000 free meals annually. In addition to food, the availability of physical space provided by the Community Kitchen facilitates the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.
Contact Heather Joseph, Volunteer Services Manager, for volunteer opportunities at our Community Kitchen. Meals provided by the Food Bank's Community Kitchen are calculated using Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) standards.
The Food Bank's Harlem soup kitchen prepares and serves more than 7,700 meals every month to New Yorkers in need — the majority of whom are women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities.
Our choice-style food pantry allows low-income New Yorkers to select fresh produce and packaged food items themselves in a supermarket-style setting — helping provide food for more than 22,700 meals a month.
