NEW REPORT NYC Hunger Experience 2008 Update
Released on Dec 16, the latest in the NYC Hunger Experience series shows that the number of city residents experiencing difficulty affording needed food has surged over the past five years — doubling from approximately 2 million to approximately 4 million from 2003 to 2008.
State Increases Funding — Still Below Last Year's Levels
After first cutting emergency food funding in the state budget, Governor Paterson recently increased food stamp benefits and funding for emergency food — but emergency food funding remains below last year's levels.
