Community CookShop is an interactive, intergenerational nutrition education program developed jointly by Mario Batali Foundation and Food Bank For New York City. Community CookShop is rooted in a belief in the power of hands-on learning to equip families for a more healthful future, where children and their parents/caregivers will develop nutrition knowledge and cooking skills to make nutritious food choices on a limited budget.

Originally developed for organizations providing emergency food relief services, such as soup kitchens and food pantries throughout New York City, Community CookShop has proven to be adaptable in a variety of settings. The goal of the program is to foster participant’s enthusiasm and appreciation for wholesome, accessible foods, wherever they reside throughout the country.

The Community CookShop program provides a training video and complete curriculum guide, listing everything needed to implement the program, detailed workshop plans, instructional materials, and a variety of tracking and assessment tools. All materials are available in English and Spanish.
