When the Food Bank For New York City first met We-Care.com on Twitter, we were impressed with what they were building. At the time, We-Care.com had developed partnerships with more than 900 major online vendors — including, Expedia, Verizon, Target and Barnes & Noble. As part of their agreements, socially conscious people could shop through a We-Care.com mall and have a percentage of their purchases benefit a charity of their choice, at no extra cost to them.
But We-Care.com didn’t just stop there. They also launched the We-Care Reminder, an add-on you can download for either Internet Explorer or Firefox. Once it is downloaded, you can just go about your normal online life, shopping to your heart's content. With so many vendors, you will inevitably find yourself purchasing an item from one of them, whether that is plane tickets, clothing, books, cosmetics, even flowers. And when you do so, an automatic prompt will “remind” you that a portion of your purchase can go to the charity of your choice.
And with the holiday shopping season just beginning, the potential for the Food Bank to raise critical funds with this online tool are phenomenal. So, download the Food Bank's We-Care Reminder today — then do your holiday shopping and give the gift of food for New Yorkers in need.
It only takes a few clicks, so please get the Food Bank’s Reminder now, before you close this post — get started!
